Community and the Boondocks
Nov. 8th, 2010 11:54 amWell I have always wanted to see both of these shows so I did not mind sitting in class on Friday. Community was hilarious and Hilary Duff was in the episode. The Boondocks has always sparked some controversy so it was cool to see what all the fuss was about. Community focused on how woman act with each other and the stereotypes that face them. All of the catty stuff and talking shit. Which is hilarious. I think a movie that taught me a lot about girls was Mean Girls and how if a girl calls a girl a bitch or a hoe it just makes it ok for men to call them that as well. Shows always have the group of mean girls and they act horrible to the other less good looking people. But it showed that the not so attractive Indian dude could be as big of a bitch as the hot mean girls.
Boondocks took its heat out on BET and it was hilarious. the way that the characters interacted and the show just really makes you think. Those hip hop videos are what a lot of younger kids actually strive to be. the money and fancy clothes and cars. that it what kids these days are after. every time they said something crazy i was like wow i cant believe that this is on cartoon network. but it makes its point by really grabbing your attention and by NOT being so sensitive it kind of just told it how it was and it made no apologies for it. being mexican myself i know that there are a lot of stereotypes about where i am from but i am just being me and i don't need to act in any particular way. I see that with some black people on campus and I think we are at a university stop yelling and get work done! i talk to my black friends a lot about this and they agree.
